If no one tells you you're playing on a digital piano, will you ever really know? Playing the Clavinova CLP-785, the CLP-700 series' flagship model, feels and sounds like an acoustic from the get-go.
Yamaha aimed toward authenticity from three angles. GrandTouch Keyboard action incorporates key counterweights for even more substance and resistance - it's like feeling the gravity-driven action of a grand whenever you place your hands to play a chord or melody.
Then, the sounds that come out, via binaural sampling, utilize tones from Yamaha's own CFX and BÖsendorfer Imperial concert grand pianos. While this choice of sounds is new for the CLP-700 series, the CLP-785 goes a step further with Virtual Resonance Modeling and a 300W sound system with Spruce Cone speakers, providing a greater degree of warmth and clarity.

Experienced through headphones, binaural samples are natural and full, preserving the acoustic sound to such a degree that you forget that you're not hearing the sound straight from an acoustic instrument. The CLP-700 Series is the first Yamaha instrument to be equipped with the voices of the fortepiano, the 18th century predecessor to the modern grand piano. Played by the likes of Mozart, Beethoven, and Bach, the sounds emitted by a fortepiano allow you to hear classical music exactly as the composer would have experienced it in their day.
